The IKI Society
Our House
The IKI Society brings together objects, ideas and practices for living well. Our starting point is the ordinary day: making coffee, walking somewhere, setting a table, growing a little of what we eat.
We like useful things with a clear purpose. The weight of a cup, a handle that sits properly in the hand, a tool that is easy to put away. Good design becomes more interesting when you use it.
A house organised around life
Make, Move, Restore, Gather and Grow are the five worlds of IKI. They overlap, as life does. A Saturday can begin in the kitchen and end around a table, with a long walk in between.
The Journal follows these interests through design, places and practical guides. It gives an idea room to develop, whether or not there is something to buy.
Refinement without display
Our name takes inspiration from the Japanese idea of iki. For the house, it is a reminder to value judgement and restraint, and to leave room for pleasure.
The illustrated shop is part of our imagined brand world. The IKI Society operates online and does not have a shop you can visit.
